12 Ways To Find a Mover You Can Trust
  • Storage
  • Storage Liability
  • Cabinet Distribution

If you need a place to store your belongings before, during, or after your move, Big Foot Moving & Storage, Inc. is able to accommodate your belongings in a clean, safe, secure, and dry storage facility.

We offer sealed private containers which we commonly refer to as “storage vaults”. Our storage vaults provide approximately 245 cubic feet of space. The vault measures 7 feet wide by 7 feet high by 5 feet deep and holds approximately one room of furniture on average. Vaults may look small compared to the size of the room in your residence, but when loaded by Big Foot Movers, the volume that can fit will surprise you.

Pianos are stored in a separate climate controlled area within the warehouse. Oversized items that will not fit into a vault are stored on separate racks at an additional fee. Your items in storage can be accessed Monday through Friday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm with (24) hour notice. Big Foot Moving & Storage, Inc. reserves the right to charge an additional handling fee for extra items brought in to or removed from storage after initial entry.

Our 20,000 square foot storage warehouse is newly constructed, clean, organized, well lit, secure, and fully climate controlled. Our climate controlled warehouse ensures that your goods will not be subject to extreme hot or cold temperatures. A controlled climate eliminates the humidity in the air and keeps the temperature from falling below 55° or rising above 80°.

Big Foot storage customers are pleased to know that all of their possessions are professionally wrapped in new moving pads as well as professionally inventoried at residence. Padding your furniture and items will protect from potential damage claims. An inventory of your furniture and items will serve as a record for the overall condition of the goods as they are placed into storage, as well as a record of the condition when delivered. Both parties (you and Big Foot) will have a copy of the inventory sheet(s) that detail your items.

We offer storage liability/insurance protection to all short term or long term storage customers. You will be comforted to know that our warehouse is equipped with a sprinkler system for fire protection, alarmed for smoke and intrusion, and tied into local police and fire departments.

Common sense in conjunction with handling and proper preparation of your items/furniture for storage are the keys to a successful Big Foot storage experience. It is important to make certain that your items are properly covered for loss or damage. Big Foot storage customers must select one of the two options below. If a Big Foot storage customer does not select one of these options, then the Mover's maximum liability is .60 cents per pound, per article, with a maximum liability of $2,000.00 for all stored goods combined.

Option 1: Released Value.

Big Foot Moving & Storage, Inc. has a maximum liability under State Law for loss or damage to your property of $0.60 per pound, per article up to a maximum of $2, 000.00. There is no additional cost for this option. You may increase this liability for loss or damage by paying extra valuation charges.

Example: A 10-pound chair is damaged or lost. You would be entitled to:
10 (lbs.) x 0.60 (cents per lb.) = $6.00. You would be allowed a maximum of $6.00 for that particular chair.

Option 2: Transit Damage Protection (TDP)

Transit Damage Protection provides maximum liability coverage of $500.00 for loss or damaged items. The value of the property will be the least of the following amounts: The actual cash value of that property; the cost of reasonably restoring that property to its condition immediately before the loss; the cost of replacing that property with substantially identical property. In the event of “loss” the value of property will be determined as of the time of “loss”. In all instances, Carrier reserves the right to make the determination regarding value. Where Carrier makes a cash settlement or replacement, the item becomes the property of the Carrier. There is a $75.00 fee for this option with zero deductible.

Option 3: Actual Cash Value.

Under this option, you are declaring the cumulative depreciated value of the entire shipment on the day of the move. Under this selection, coverage will be the lesser of the following amounts:

  1. The cost of reasonably restoring the property to its condition immediately before the move
  2. The actual cash value of the property immediately before the move.
The declaration of value must reflect the total actual depreciated value of the entire shipment. If you declare a value lower than the actual depreciated value, you will underinsure each item in the shipment thus incurring a coinsurance penalty. This penalty will limit the insurance payment in the event of loss or damage by the ratio of declared depreciated value to the actual depreciated value.

Please review the valuation chart prior to your move into storage to find the appropriate total value with corresponding premium. On move day, the move crew can assist you with choosing the proper coverage needed.

If your shipment is valued over $100,000 in total value, please call us at 781-488-3090 for further pricing options.

I have moved across the country, as well as locally within Boston, several times. My experience with national moving companies (e.g., United, Allied, etc.) as well as with Boston firms has been far from satisfactory. However, Big Foot Storage & Moving is a different story. Their services exceeded my highest expectations. My wife & I had a very complex move. It actually consisted of five parts. First, after we sold our home in the Boston suburbs, Big Foot packed & labeled all our belongings. Next, we moved our computer & office equipment to our new residence to allow me to set up our home office. Two days later, Big Foot moved a portion of our belongings to our new home & helped us unpack. The next day, they took our remaining items & put them in storage. A month later, Big Foot loaded all our stored items into a 24-ft rental truck for transport to our 2nd home in the Southwest. They even delivered the loaded rental truck to me for my drive West. As the phases progressed, I learned to trust Big Foot''s team totally. I did not even supervise the last stage - the loading of the rental truck. Friends who helped me unload the truck in the Southwest marveled at the care and skill of the packing job done by Big Foot. Everything was moved exactly as planned. Not one thing, including delicate art objects & sensitive stereo equipment, was lost, mislabeled or broken. The guys are exceptional - helpful & competent. They were professional, courteous, dependable, punctual, trustworthy, & conscientious. I recommend Big Foot unreservedly.
